Simulating additive manufacturing processes in ABAQUS

dr inż. Jakub Michalski
TECHNIA Poland

Abstract:

The seminar will cover the special-purpose features implemented in Abaqus for thermo-mechanical simulations of additive manufacturing processes, such as SLS/SLM, LDED, and FDM. It will focus on progressive element activation, moving heat source and progressive cooling capabilities. The underlying concepts of event series and table collections will be discussed as well. The webinar will also mention the dedicated Abaqus/CAE plug-in and metallurgical phase transformation modeling. It will conclude with two benchmark problems.

Bio:

Dr inż. Jakub Michalski is an expert in computer simulations at TECHNIA with years of scientific and implementation experience. His main area of interest is numerical analysis (FEA). He utilizes these simulations both during professional work (for Dassault Systemes SIMULIA partner) and as a hobby. He mainly focuses on mechanics of materials. In 2023, he received PhD in mechanics of metamaterials at Poznań University of Technology.
