Date 2

New researchers joined NOMATEN team on August. Amin Esfandiarpour PhD and Francisco Javier Dominguez Gutierrez PhD will support director Mikko Alava within his research group.

Amin Esfandiarpour as researcher at NOMATEN is focusing on computational material science.  His main research field is multi-scale modeling simulations of irradiated metals and alloys by several techniques including Density Function Theory (DFT), Molecular Dynamic (MD), Object Kinetic Monte Carlo (OKMC) and Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy (STEM) simulation. Amin graduated from Ishafan University (M.Sc. atomic-molecular), PhD at Payame Noor University in Teheran and two post-docs at Ishafan University and University of Helsinki both on computational material science.

Javier Dominguez is  PhD in computational physics by Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM), graduated with higher honors. He has got 4-years scientific experience working on materials science at the Stony Brook University and the Max-Planck Institute for Plasma Physics with more than 22 publications and talks. His scientific research is dedicated to study damaged in materials by machine learning numerical simulations for applications in 2D materials, fast sensors, plasma material  interfaces, heterofullerenes, and irradiated metals. He is also one of the main developers and corresponding contact of an automated  software to identify, classify and visualize defects in damaged materials (FaVAD) that won the IAEA Crowdsourcing Challenge for Materials for Fusion Technology of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
