Balaji Raghavan is a tenured Associate Professor of Civil and Mechanical Engineering at the Institut National des Sciences Appliquees (INSA) at Rennes in France since 2013. He has obtained his Bachelor of Technology degree in mechanicl engineering from IIT Bombay, India, his Master of Sciences in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in High Performance Computing from the Pennsylvania State University (PSU), PA, USA and his PhD in Advanced Mechanics from the Universite de Technologie de Compiegne (UTC) in Compiegne, France. He conducts his research in numerical modeling and simulation for the multi-physics characterization of materials in the "MÉCANIQUE DES MATÉRIAUX ET PROCÉDÉS" Axe of the Laboratoire de Genie Civil et Genie Mecanique (LGCGM EA 3913) in Rennes France. He is actively involved in research collaborations with  Universite de Technologie de Compiègne, France, the National Institute of Technology-Silchar, India and the Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) Xi'an, China where he serves as Visiting Professor of nonlinear mechanics and topology optimization. He has also collaborated with the Narodowe Centrum Badań Jądrowych (NCBJ) in Świerk Poland. In addition, he has served as scientific reviewer and/or guest editor for various international journals, as well as expert for reviewing STUDIUM national projects in France.
