The National Centre for Nuclear Research opens a competition for the position of
Assistant professor
(specialist of microstructural studies of materials)
at MAB NOMATEN
Localization: Otwock / Świerk (Company transport from Warsaw, Otwock, Garwolin to Świerk and backwards).
Description of tasks:
- work in materials characterization laboratory, conducting measurements using SEM/EDS/EBSD and FIB techniques;
- training other employees in the field of microstructural characterization using of all the above methods;
- conducting research on the structural properties of polymer composites used in the nuclear and space industries;
- conducting and coordinating research activities in the field of characterization of modern functional materials by SEM-FIB/EDS/EBSD techniques;
- cooperation with other research groups NOMATEN and NCBJ;
- preparation of scientific publications and grant applications.
Requirements:
- Ph.D. in technical sciences or related disciplines (focus on materials engineering);
- experience in laboratory work, min. 10 years;
- experience in the field of microstructural characterization of materials by electron microscopy techniques, min. 10 years;
- experience in planning and conducting scientific research;
- analytical skills – conducting research that includes several different techniques and analyzing obtained structural and mechanical data;
- knowledge of sampling and sample preparation methods;
- preparation of scientific reports in Polish and/or English;
- fluent spoken and written English;
- communicativeness, regularity, and very good organization of work;
- Ability to work as a member of a team;
- Being open for new tasks and challenges;
Additional assets:
- published scientific papers (min. 7) related to microstructural, electrical or mechanical properties of polymer composites subjected to irradiation damage;
- knowledge of the influence of radiation defects on the structural and functional properties of materials;
- experience in sample preparation using the FIB lift-out technique;
- knowledge of other measurement techniques, e.g., XRD, TEM, FT-IR or Raman spectroscopy – documented with publications;
- experience in working with students (teaching skills);
We offer:
- 11,250 - 15,000 PLN per month (at current exchange rate 2,600- 3,200 € per month); the details in each case depend on qualifications and experience, and the compensation is composed of the base salary, seniority addition, functional addition and project bonus)
