NOMATEN Centre of Excellence (CoE) is formed through a scientific partnership between the National Centre for Nuclear Research (NCBJ-Poland), the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA-France) and the Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT-Finland) with joint financial support from the Foundation for Polish Science (FNP) and the European Commission. NOMATEN focuses research on the characterization, analysis and development of advanced multifunctional materials, specifically those designed to work in extreme conditions, with primary examples being radiation, high temperature and corrosion.

NOMATEN is now recruiting a person to joint our international research group well-equipped lab:
Electrochemist/Corrosionist
(postdoc or technical staff)
Location: National Centre for Nuclear Research (NCBJ), ul. Andrzeja Sołtana 7, 05-400 Otwock, Poland (Suburb of Warsaw, efficient and free daily bus transport service provided).
Key responsibilities include:
- Working on project related to magnetism for the functionalization of metallic materials surfaces and its effect on corrosion phenomena
- Collaboration in project related to hydrogen retention in metals and alloys
- Preparation of samples
- Electrochemical measurements
- Analysis of results
- Preparation of publications
Requirements:
- PhD or MSc (a position dependent on education level).
- Expertise in electrochemical measurements (EIS, woltamperometry, or electrochemical scanning spectroscopy) (compulsory)
- Good knowledge of basic of electrochemistry, corrosion or surface analysis science (compulsory)
- Knowledge of synthesis of electrochemical oxidation, electrodeposition or synthesis of materials for catalysis (desirable)
- Written and oral communication skills in English (desirable)
Key assessment criteria:
- Competence to carry out specific tasks in the project
- The candidate’s knowledge of electrochemistry with applications to metals and alloys
- The candidate’s research achievements
- Other achievements (scholarships, awards, etc.)
- Research experience
We offer:
- Gross salary: 7 000 – 23 000 PLN per month (at current exchange rate 1 500 – 5 000€ per month); the details in each case depend on qualifications and experience, and the compensation is composed of the base salary and seniority addition, project bonus).

- Type of contract: full-time employment. The position is initially for two years with a possibility of extension after a positive evaluation.

- Some of the positions are for joint collaborative research with NOMATEN partners CEA (France) and VTT (Finland) and thus include extensive visits to the collaborating institution.
