Main Objectives

The Industry Advisory Board supports NOMATEN by providing strategic guidance across key areas that strengthen industrial collaboration, innovation, technology transfer, and commercialization.

Strengthening Science-to-Business (S2B)

  • Support the development of an effective Science-to-Business strategy.
  • Facilitate the transformation of research results into industrial applications, products, processes, and services.
  • Identify opportunities for commercialization of technologies developed at NOMATEN.
  • Promote industry engagement throughout the research and innovation lifecycle.

Industrial Strategy and Business Development

  • Advise on strategic directions for expanding industrial cooperation.
  • Recommend new business opportunities, market segments, and industrial sectors where NOMATEN's expertise can create value.
  • Support the development of long-term partnerships with industrial companies and technology providers.
  • Help position NOMATEN as a preferred R&D partner for industry.

Technology Transfer and Commercialization

  • Provide guidance on technology readiness, market validation, intellectual property strategy, licensing, and commercialization pathways.
  • Identify promising technologies with high implementation potential.
  • Support the creation of industrial demonstrators, pilot projects, and proof-of-concept activities.
  • Recommend approaches that accelerate the adoption of new technologies by industry.

Industrial Collaboration

  • Facilitate direct interactions between NOMATEN researchers and industrial partners.
  • Recommend collaborative R&D projects addressing real industrial challenges.
  • Support contract research, industrial testing services, and joint development programmes.
  • Encourage co-development of technologies with end users from industry.

Innovation and Market Intelligence

  • Provide insight into emerging industrial trends, market demands, and technological challenges.
  • Identify future business opportunities in advanced materials, nuclear technologies, clean energy, additive manufacturing, digital manufacturing, and advanced characterization.
  • Advise on industrial competitiveness, sustainability, and future technology roadmaps.

Strategic Partnerships

  • Support the establishment of collaborations with multinational companies, SMEs, start-ups, innovation clusters, and industrial associations.
  • Recommend opportunities for participation in industrial partnerships, European innovation initiatives, and public-private collaborations.
  • Facilitate networking with key industrial stakeholders across Europe and beyond.

Support for Research Infrastructure

  • Advise on the development of research infrastructure that responds to industrial needs.
  • Recommend new laboratory capabilities and services attractive to external industrial users.
  • Help maximize the utilization of NOMATEN facilities through industrial access programmes and collaborative projects.

External Perspective

  • Provide independent feedback on NOMATEN's innovation strategy and industrial relevance.
  • Assess whether research directions correspond to evolving market expectations.
  • Recommend improvements that increase the practical impact and industrial applicability of research activities.

The purpose of the undertaking is to support entities of the higher education and science system that have received funding from the European Union budget in the competition H2020-WIDESPREAD-2018-2020/WIDESPREAD-01-2018-2019: Teaming Phase 2. in the preparation, implementation and updating of activities, maintenance of material resources necessary for carrying out activities, acquisition and modernization of scientific and research apparatus, maintenance and development of personnel potential necessary for the implementation of activities, and dissemination of the results of scientific activities.
