CoE NOMATEN ILG also organized a third site visit tour in the Lower Silesia region in western Poland in October 2024. The visits included the following companies and institutes, all located in Wrocław:

HAK Sp. z o.o – producer of advanced handling and transport systems. HAK has been operating since 1989 in the field of complex technical solutions for various industries. It specializes in the design, production, expertise and modernization of handling equipment and crane accessories, as well as the construction of crane tracks in the Gantrail system. It has a production area of over 4,000 m2 and an area of over 1,800 m2 dedicated to research and development (www.cbrhak.pl). The quality of the resulting products is documented by the company's ISO 9001 quality certificate, which it has held since 1998, as well as confirmation that the company meets the requirements of ISO 3834 for the quality of welding metal materials, EN 1090-1 for the conformity assessment of structural components and the implementation of Factory Production Control, and EN 1090-2 for the technical requirements for steel structures. Since 2011, the HAK Company has had the status of a Research and Development Centre, granted by the Minister of the Economy as confirmation of its long-standing experience in innovative research work and the development of new technical solutions.

Łukasiewicz PORT, Materials Engineering Centre The Materials Science and Engineering Center operating as part of the Łukasiewicz – PORT is responsible for the development of research and measurement services related to the production, design, modification, and characteristics of functional materials for applications. The main directions of the Center’s work include research on composite materials and coatings (including self-cleaning, anti-graffiti, or potentially anti-icing), and synthesis of luminescent, thermochromic, thermal, mechanical, antibacterial, electrical, or sensor systems.
It searches for new deep UV emitters based on group-III nitrides (AlGaInN) and designs new functions and applications of macromolecules with a specific sequence that goes beyond the classic applications of polymers. In the Center operates service laboratories (Core Facility Laboratories) as well. They fulfil the internal and external needs for measurements and scientific expertise in standard and universal techniques of instrumental analysis or other methods supporting research processes. The Material Engineering Center carries out implementation projects without neglecting basic research. Teams and Laboratories form a multidisciplinary and synergistic group of scientists. Their goal is to work for the development of modern technologies.

Nanores Lab is an independent research and development laboratory focused on providing the highest quality services and raising the standards of cooperation between science and business. Macro-nano production for medicine, micro-electronics, etc. Laboratory Equipped with Scanning Electron Microscopy: Surface analysis,  Elemental EDS analysis, Processing of materials in nano and micro scale, Sample preparation for TEM and STEM 3D polymer printing, HP printer, Startup studio interested in automating their tests using AI for production use of microscopes AI system for 3d printer quality control: processing images from the printer with AI to control geometrical quality.

ZEC Service is a company with an innovative production and renovation background characterized by high technical infrastructure standards. The company holds required certificates and permits to perform work, including work for those with a high level of technical difficulty. The company works on tasks that require specialization in the following areas: Renovation services, modernizations and assembly of devices, electrical and industrial installations; Complex services of specialized overhauls, assemblies and modernizations of electric al and power supply devices, automation systems, control systems, and safety systems; Production of details and components for the railing and automotive industry, including welded steel constructions; Servicing and operating services of technical installations at industrial facilities, Design and execution works in all sectors connected to modernizations of heating systems (steam and water boiler room renovations, heating networks, central heating installations, hot water circulation, ventilation and air conditioning, construction and assembly of station heating centres); Diagnostics of materials and devices; thermos-visual, environmental and operational tests, including vibro-diagnostics and vibro-acoustics.

Kriosystem – the company provides a complete supply of liquefied gas distribution systems covering transmission, storage, heat exchange, and phase separation. With more than 20 years of experience and a qualified team of engineers and specialists, the company provide clients with technologically advanced cryogenic devices and installations that are applied in science, industry, and medicine.
One of the leading European engineering companies for the complex and demanding supply of low-temperature systems for industry, science, and medicine. The genesis of our activities dates back to the 1970s when the low-temperature experimental plant KRIOPAN was established as part of the Institute of Low Temperatures and Structural Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Wrocław. In 1991, the plant was transformed into a private company.

The visit's main objective was to establish contacts to carry out joint research projects and identify key areas in companies the NOMATEN CoE Team could support through material and research consultancy services. Closer discussions were held with Kriosystem regarding the possibility of joint cooperation in preparing and implementing an industrial hydrogen transfer and storage project and joint support in the preparation and participation in tenders for leading Big Science units.
