Foreign scientists visit the NOMATEN CoE group
On May 13-17, 2019, the NOMATEN CoE group was visited by scientists from the Centre for High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy Laboratory from Nelson Mandela University, Port Elizabeth, South Africa. The visit was organized as part of the INLAS project (INterfaceLAyer Structure), as the first project received by NOMATEN CoE and financed by the National Center for Research and Development. The main objective of the project is to examine the structure of interfaces between bulk material and protective layers in order to improve the functional properties of multi-layer materials, with particular emphasis on clean coal technologies. The visiting group included prof. Jan Neethling, a world-class specialist in electron microscopy, Dr. Jacques O'Connell and Dr. Ezra Ollivier. The current list of materials on which we will work includes High Entropy Alloys, copper nitrides, Oxide Dispersed Strengthened steels and AIIIBV semiconductors. Excellent complementarity between project partners, the ability to synthesize materials in Poland and the state-of-the-art equipment and expertise in South Africa guarantee the success of this three-year project.
