On March 22 and 23 NOMATEN team performed a study visit at VTT Technical Institute of Finland. The event had been hosted at VTT’s Centre for Nuclear Safety (CNS) in Espoo, suburbs of Helsinki.

Scientists and operation team members from VTT, NCBJ National Centre for Nuclear Research and CEA Commissariat à l'energie atomique et aux énergies alternatives had an opportunity to had an in –person discussion on their research developments and go-to-market activities in order to promote NOMATEN CoE towards industry.

Prof. Mikko Alava gave an update on NOMATEN’s research agenda, while prof. Jacek Jagielski presented the state of play within NOMATEN - Teaming for Excellence project. The guests enjoyed also the opportunity to visit to VTT facilities: Centre for Nuclear Safety,  Research Hall (non-destructive and destructive materials research among others) and TT2 Radiopharma site.In addition, Science Council and a numer of one-to-one meetings took place.

The purpose of the undertaking is to support entities of the higher education and science system that have received funding from the European Union budget in the competition H2020-WIDESPREAD-2018-2020/WIDESPREAD-01-2018-2019: Teaming Phase 2. in the preparation, implementation and updating of activities, maintenance of material resources necessary for carrying out activities, acquisition and modernization of scientific and research apparatus, maintenance and development of personnel potential necessary for the implementation of activities, and dissemination of the results of scientific activities.
