We are happy to share our 2021 Annual Report with you. This booklet describes our scientific achievements, human resources development, new projects and cooperation with industrial partners.
We have a bunch of updates on important issues concerning 1st NOMATEN International Conference on Materials Informatics for registered people as well as potential participants.

Qinqin XuPhD, our new assistant professor, will give a seminar "Dislocations and nanomechanics in Alumina using atomistic simulations" on Tuesday April 26.
NOMATEN numerical modeling and experimental groups published new scientific paper in collaboration with the experimental group led by Dr. Yanwen Zhang of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in Materials & Design entitled: “Effects of Fe atoms on hardening of a nickel matrix: Nanoindentation experiments and atom-scale numerical modeling”.

The NOMATEN Centre of Excellence is organizing a conference on June 1-3, 2022, with the focus on the, widely defined, interplay of materials science with machine learning, that will feature presentations and tutorials from renowned experts in applied mathematics, drug design, material science, and renewable energy.
NOMATEN CoE Director prof. Mikko Alava is one of the founders of the ongoing CECAM conference. In addition, a number of NOMATEN and NCBJ scientists participate in this event, whereas Stefanos Papanikolaou and Silvia Bonfanti will give talks during the afternoon session on Wednesday March 30.
On March 22 and 23 NOMATEN team performer a study visit at VTT Technical Institute of Finland. The event had been hosted at VTT’s Centre for Nuclear Safety (CNS) in Espoo, suburbs of Helsinki.
