Title: Electrocatalytic mechanism of amorphous/crystalline high entropy alloys for enhanced OER applications
Abstract: The proposed research is aimed at developing new state-of-the-art amorphous/crystalline high entropy alloy (HEA) electrocatalysts and uncovering the deeper correlation between elevated catalytic oxygen evolution reaction (OER) activity and structural features. The fine structural properties and the unique compositional complexity could be precisely investigated by X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) measurements. Herein, the XAS measurement of those samples could offer a powerful experimental methodology to explore the evolution of crystal structure and compositional adjustments. Understanding and optimizing the chemical complexity on the microscopic/macroscopic scale of HEA catalysts could effectively tailor the intrinsic electronic configuration and specific active surface. This exquisite regulation can control the adsorption/desorption behavior of key intermediates and further enhance the OER kinetics during all stages. Overall, we believe that this proposed study could promote the structural engineering of high-entropy materials and provide a new design platform for novel catalysts.
