NOMRad conference

The Novel Radiopharmaceuticals Group successfully hosted the inaugural International Radiopharmaceutical Conference (NOMRad 2024) from June 25-27, 2024, in Warsaw, Poland. The conference was organized as part of a project funded by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) under the Welcome to Poland programme. The scientific committee was composed of representatives from NOMATEN (Marek Pruszyński), as well as collaborating institutions: CEA (Frédéric Dollé), VTT (Kristiina Iljin), and POLATOM (Renata Mikołajczak).

The event attracted nearly 100 attendees from three continents and over 13 countries, with more than half of the participants traveling from abroad. The conference featured four distinguished invited speakers: Prof. Michael R. Zalutsky, Prof. Alfred Morgenstern, Prof. Jolanta Kunikowska, and Prof. Valery Radchenko, who delivered insightful lectures on current topics in nuclear medicine. Attendees presented their research across a range of topics including radioisotope production and separation, radiolabelling with both metallic and non-metallic radioisotopes, preclinical studies, and clinical trials. In addition to oral presentations, participants had the opportunity to showcase their work through poster presentations. PhD students also competed in the 3-Minute Thesis (MT180) competition, where they succinctly presented their dissertation topics. The scientific committee awarded the Young Scientist Awards in several categories: best MT180 presentation, best poster presentation, and best oral presentation. The conference provided participants with opportunities to network, connect, and build a diverse community, particularly for young scientists, with researchers across various disciplines.

Following the overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants, the NOMRad conference is set to become a recurring event, with the next edition planned for 2026.
