CONNECT NM NUCLEAR ENERGY ONTOLOGY FOR MATERIALS – Dr. Michał Pecelerowicz

NEO4MAT (Nuclear Energy Ontology for MATerials) is a project within the European CONNECT-NM partnership that aims to facilitate the collection, integration and reuse of data on materials for nuclear energy applications. It develops shared data documentation methods, ontologies and tools for querying resources across institutions through the Nuclear Materials Knowledge Organisation System (NM-KOS). These solutions will be applied to six case studies covering experimental research and materials modelling, providing a foundation for integrating data from other CONNECT-NM projects.

Subtask ST4.6.2, “Data Management System,” is led by Dr Michał Pecelerowicz from the National Centre for Nuclear Research (NCBJ). It establishes the data management foundations for integrating heterogeneous research outputs into NM-KOS. The subtask develops a coherent approach to structuring, documenting and managing data, preserving their scientific context and enabling interoperability and reuse across institutions. This work translates the CONNECT-NM Data Management Plan and FAIR principles into practical solutions for the participating research communities.

The purpose of the undertaking is to support entities of the higher education and science system that have received funding from the European Union budget in the competition H2020-WIDESPREAD-2018-2020/WIDESPREAD-01-2018-2019: Teaming Phase 2. in the preparation, implementation and updating of activities, maintenance of material resources necessary for carrying out activities, acquisition and modernization of scientific and research apparatus, maintenance and development of personnel potential necessary for the implementation of activities, and dissemination of the results of scientific activities.
